Mu.SA (MUseum Sector Alliance) is a 3 year European project funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme – Sector Alliances (November 2016 – October 2019) that addresses directly the shortage of digital and transferrable skills identified in the museum sector and supports the continuous professional development of museum professionals in Greece, Italy and Portugal.
The project aims to address the increasing disconnection between formal education and training and the world of work because of the emergence of new job roles due to the quickening pace of the adoption of ICT in the museum sector.
Melting Pro will be responsible of the research phase to identify the emerging roles of museum professionals related to digital skills and develop the training content.
Based on the research findings a MOOC, a specialization training Course including e-learning and face-to-face lectures and a work based learning phase other educational resources are going to be developed. Training will be delivered via an online platform that stimulates sharing and exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices.
Melting Pro is part of a consortium led by the project leader is Hellenic Open University, together with organisations active in the museum and continuous professional development such as: Ethnikos Organismos Pistopiisis Prosonton & Epaggelmmatikou Pro, ICOM, KMI Anonymous Educational Organization, from Greece, Comissão Nacional Portuguesa do Conselho Internacional de Muse, Mapa das Ideias e Universidade do Porto from Pourtugal; LINK Campus University, Symbola Fondazione per le qualità italiane, Istituto per i Beni Artistici Culturali e Naturali della Regione Emilia Romagna and Melting Pro Learning from Italy and Culture Action Europe from Belgium.

The report Museum of the future, realized by Symbola in collaboration with Melting Pro, was created during the first part of the research.
