It is called EUREKA. European Urban REgenerators Knowledge Alliance, the Erasmus+ Sector Alliance project for the regeneration of urban spaces led by the University of Venice in partnership with 11 subjects from 5 different European countries, including Melting Pro.
One of the few selected in 2020, it has been awarded funding of just under one million euros for three years of research and shared planning activities, with the aim of training tomorrow’s Urban Innovators: a new professional profile able to support and manage urban transformations based on investment in knowledge and culture with a strong social impact.
The project will involve universities, regenerated cultural spaces, public bodies, social and cultural enterprises and third sector organisations. Iuav University is leading a research team made up of four European universities (the Venetian university is joined by the University of Deusto, the West University of Timisoara and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences) together with Trans Europe Halles, the European network of cultural centres (based in Stockholm), Agenzia Lama, which manages the Manifattura Tabacchi spaces in Florence, Espacio Open in Bilbao, Plai in Romania and the P60 cultural centre in Amstelveen in the Netherlands.

Melting Pro contributes to the partnership by bringing its good practices in the field of urban regeneration and development of soft skills and represents the enlargement in a European key of the success and experience gained in recent years with Invasioni Contemporanee, Space. Regeneration and comedy in the footsteps of Troisi, P.arch. Playground for community architects, Space Market. Urban cultural market.
Eureka was born from the experience of 4 masters – Master URISE – Urban Regeneration and Social Innovation (IUAV-IT), Master in Governance for Sustainable Urban Development (University Deusto – ES), Master in Territorial Planning and Sustainable Development (West University Timișoara – RO), Master Urban Management (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences – NL) and will lead to the design of an educational path able to train a professional at European level on the themes of urban regeneration.
EUREKA’s three-year project thus responds to the demand for a new professional profile, the Urban Innovator, able to support and manage urban transformations based on investment in knowledge and culture with a strong social impact.
