A project for the development of Turin civic libraries

Torino Open Library is a project of organizational development of the Turin civic libraries for the creation of a participatory management model which involves private authorities, communities and under 35s.

The need of Turin Civic Libraries, from which the project originates, is to experiment innovative and more sustainable management methods and tools, as well as to increase its audience by becoming more relevant in relation to the necessities of users and of the territory.

Melting Pro as innovator, bearer of experiences, practices and skills developed nationally and internationally, will be alongside the TCL system by supporting it in this process of organizational and programmatic change that will last for two years, and which draws inspiration from the latest research on cultural management and audience development and engagement.

The main actions of TOp Library are:

  • Training and empowerment courses for the operators of the Turin Civic Libraries who will acquire skills, abilities and useful tools to involve institutions and young people in the co-management of spaces/activities/services;
  • Co-design laboratories for new services and activities with young people of the territory who use design thinking as human centred design methodology, that is to say, capable of putting people and audiences at the center of strategy and planning.

The project was funded by Open2change – call with which the Compagnia San Paolo in Turin has financed experimental projects of excellence, able to promote research and development initiatives within cultural institutions operating in the territory of reference (Piedmont and Liguria).
