International DST Festival celebrates the power of stories and the art of digital storytelling

An international event dedicated to digital storytelling and to the contribution it can make to broaden the debate on society’s urgent issues!

As members of the Digital Storytelling international community, we have long worked with stories to promote social justice and raise awareness of important issues, in the hope of contributing to a world characterized by respect and equality, regardless of gender, race, religion or belief, age or ability.

The 1st International Digital Storytelling Festival intends to constitute a space in which digital stories can be communicated and shared with a wider community, as an object of critical reflection by experts and professionals – artists, scientists, doctors, etc. – and by the participants in the Festival, creators or not of digital stories.

The festival will be hosted in Zakynthos, Greece, from 27 to 29 September 2024, thanks to the collaboration of three local universities (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of the Aegean and Ionian University) supported by a large international network of organizations, including Melting Pro.

Storytellers are invited to participate in the festival by presenting digital stories that can raise discussions on important topics according to the following disciplinary sectors:

  • Culture
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Science and research
  • Society

The Festival will host a special session dedicated to Greece, entitled “Through the topos and the chronos: the poetics of narration”.

In parallel with the Festival, scientific events will be organized, including DST workshops and presentations of projects by DST specialists.
